MindAttune

Always different, always the same.

MindAttune is a generative field of sound and light — soft voices that drift in and out of phase and never repeat. This page covers how to use it, how to get sound working, and answers to common questions.

01Getting started

Three taps to a calm, ever-changing field.

Everything is generated live on your device. Nothing is recorded and nothing loops, so the moment you're watching has never happened before and won't return.

02Controls

Shape the field to taste. Changes apply instantly.

Seed
Sets the cast of voices, their pitches, and their cycles. Step with Prev / Next, jump to a number, or tap Random. Note a seed you love and return to it any time.
Voices
How many tones are sounding. More voices make denser, richer chords.
Drift Rate
The overall speed of the cycles. Lower is slower and calmer.
Sound : Silence
How much of each cycle a voice sounds versus rests. Lower leaves more open space.
Incommensurability
How differently the voices keep time. Higher makes the chords shift and recombine more.
Bloom
The softness and size of each band of light.
Sway
How much the bands wander up and down, like drifting cloud.
Colors
Pick the low, mid, and high tones of the palette.
Volume / Pause
Set the listening level, or pause the field and its sound.
Regenerate / Reset
Refresh the current configuration, or return every control to its defaults.

03Sound & playback

Sound is off until you ask for it. Tap ♪ Sound once and the nine voices begin — each a single sustained tone, gated by its own cycle, drifting into ever-shifting chords. Use the Volume slider to set the level.

MindAttune plays through your iPhone or iPad's built-in speaker, and also through earphones or any connected external speaker.

Plays even on silent. Sound is routed so it comes through the speaker whether or not the silent / ring switch is on. If you've just finished a phone call or used another audio app, return to MindAttune and the sound will resume.

Audio is paused while the app is in the background — bring MindAttune back to the foreground to continue.

04Troubleshooting

I don't hear any sound

Walk through these in order:

1. Make sure you've tapped ♪ Sound so it reads "Sound: on."
2. Raise the in-app Volume slider, then your device's volume buttons.
3. If you recently took a call or played audio in another app, return to MindAttune so it can reclaim the speaker.
4. Try earphones to confirm audio is playing, then switch back to the speaker.
5. Close and reopen the app.

Sound stops when I switch apps or lock the screen

That's expected — MindAttune doesn't play in the background. Reopen the app to resume the field and its sound.

The visuals look slow or stutter

Lower the Voices count or reduce Bloom. On older devices a lighter field runs more smoothly.

How do I leave fullscreen?

Tap the Exit fullscreen button at the top-right of the screen, or the Fullscreen control again.

Can I keep a look I like?

Yes — note the Seed number shown in the Seed box. Entering the same number brings back the same voices, pitches, and colors.

05About the frequencies

MindAttune's voices are tuned to nine tones often called the Solfeggio frequencies (174, 285, 396, 417, 528, 639, 741, 852, and 963 Hz). In MindAttune they're used purely as a musical tuning — a palette chosen for its calm, slightly otherworldly color.

The wellbeing meanings traditionally attached to these tones are folklore, not established science. MindAttune is an art-and-sound experience for relaxation and focus, not a medical device, and makes no health claims. If you have a health concern, please speak with a qualified professional.
